Desert Skies United Methodist Women
For Women of All Ages & Interests
Desert Skies United Methodist Women (UMW) holds general meetings 4 times a year on Saturday morning, beginning with a brunch followed by a speaker or an activity for the group.
In addition, we have two small groups called Circles and one mission support group which meet monthly in homes, restaurants or at the church.
We also schedule several special activities and outings throughout the year. The activities for the next two months can be found on our Calendar.
Each year we hold a Cookie Walk in December to raise funds for a local group. This year we are supporting the Sister Jose Women’s Center. More information is available in our bi-monthly newsletter, The Joyful Noise. Previous newsletters are found here.
Zippy 49’ers Circle meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month in Fellowship Hall at 9:15 am. We are currently studying a DVD series “That the World May Know.”
Part of our mission work includes collecting clothing for the Southern Arizona Children’s Advocacy Center and coordinating the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
Southeast Circle meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in local restaurants or homes.
We support Stand Up for Kids, Youth On Their Own and Gospel Rescue Mission by collecting clothing, shoes and toiletries and organizing fund raisers. We like to prepare meals for St. Luke’s Home, Wesley Foundation college students and our own Desert Skies youth group.
Mary Martha (M&M) Circle meets frequently for projects of all kinds and lots of comradery. Use your skills for collecting Easter Baskets, school supplies, or gifts for adopted Christmas families, for preparing and serving meals, or for creating special Caring Cross fused glass gifts.
Our regular meeting time is the 3rd Thursday of the month at 1 pm in Room 2. Our smiles are bountiful and our faith infectious.
Helping Hands Mission Support Group packs items for mission projects. It is a great time of fellowship and mission.
Helping Hands Primavera meets at 9:00 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month in the Kitchen to pack lunches for Primavera Works. The Primavera Foundation provides pathways out of poverty through safe, affordable housing, workforce development and neighborhood revitalization. Packing takes approximately one hour.
